Who We Are... |
|
Unity House provides services for adults who are in need of
assistance with psychosocial and vocational development .
Unity House is a kinship intentionally
organized to support individuals living with the effects of
mental illness. Through participation in the program the
members are given the opportunities to rejoin the worlds of
friendships, family, important work, employment ,education,
and access the services and supports they may individually
need.
The program provides a restorative environment for people
who have had their lives drastically disrupted, and need the
support of others who believe that recovery from mental
illness is possible for all.
While embracing the opportunity of recovery, Unity House
encourages their members to rely on their strengths and
talents as contributors to their community.

What We Do... |
|
Unity House assists the membership in furthering their
vocational and educational goals. Fundamentally, work is
desired by most people; therefore, the core of the program
is built upon the work that is generated during the hours
that the program is operational.
The daily work of the program encompasses the
skills, talents, and creative ideas and the efforts of each
member are needed and encouraged. Participation is
voluntary but each member is always invited to participate
in the work which includes clerical duties, reception, food
service, transportation management, outreach, maintenance,
and employment and education.
Unity House provides the members with opportunities to
return to paid employment in integrated work settings
through Transitional Employment (TE), Supported Employment
(SE), and Independent Employment (IE). The employment
aspect of the program is to assist the members in gaining or
re-gaining the skills and confidence to venture into the
workforce with the encouragement and support to be
successful.

How We Do It... |
|

Unity House creates an environment and structures that
ensures that there is ample opportunity for the development
of meaningful relationships.
Meaningful relationships between the members
and the staff develop naturally as they work together
side-by-side carrying out the daily activities of the
program. The role of the staff is to engage with the
membership as colleagues, talent scouts, and cheerleaders.
The message that is communicated to the membership is that
he or she is wanted, needed, welcomed, and expected every
day.
Unity House is a community of people that are dedicated to
one another’s success, no matter how long it takes or how
difficult it is.
Mutual relationships, meaningful work, and significant
opportunities in the community are the fundamentals of the
program.
